Camping & Accommodation

Can I camp with people from my church?

Absolutely! We think this is such a special time for getting to know your own church family better, as well as making new friends. However, NUA does not reserve camping spots so if you want to camp together, get someone from your group to arrive early and claim a space for you all. (Remember tents will be in a separate area from caravans/camper vans.)

Does NUA provide tents or camping equipment?

You need to bring all your own camping equipment. If you are coming as part of a group or church, you could divide up any extra equipment between everyone (eg gazebos, camping stoves etc.) There is a village hall where you can wash dishes and make use of tables and chairs.

When can I set up my tent?

The campsite will be open from 12pm on Friday 20th June.  Please make sure to register with the NUA team before you set up. You will be allocated a camping spot and receive a number to attach to your tent or caravan. We would like to have the campsite cleared by 6pm on Sunday 22nd June.

Can I leave the NUA site?

You are free to come and go as you please. Just make sure to have your NUA wristband on entry, you will not be allowed access without this. Please be aware the site closes at 11pm and opens at 7am.

Can I light a fire in the campsite?

You may use camping stoves but fire regulations mean that open fires and low level disposable type BBQs are not allowed. Waist-high, contained off-the-ground BBQ’s with wind-protecting side panels are permitted. We will have communal campfires for you to enjoy in the evenings.

Can I hook my tent or caravan up to electricity?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer electrical hook up. There will be limited electrical sockets for charging in the Village Hall.

Can tents and camper vans camp beside each other?

To keep everyone safe, the campsite is a vehicle-free zone. This means that caravans and campervans will be located in their own section of the campsite. Camping spots are allocated on arrival and there are no restrictions on tent sizes.

Do I have to camp if I’m coming to NUA?

Not at all. There are a wide variety of hotels, airbnb and holidays lets you can avail of around the Newcastle area. NUA does not provide assistance with booking outside accommodation.

Can I buy food on site?

There will be a number of food and coffee vans available. We also recommend you bring camping friendly food and snacks (eg: things you can cook/reheat on a camping stove, BBQ supplies, bread, fruit, instant noodles, cereal bars, sweets). There are also supermarkets within a 5 minute drive of the site.

What are the toilet and shower facilities?

There is a permanent shower and toilet block (fully accessible) and there will be plenty of portaloos around the site.

Accessibility at NUA

Our hope is to make NUA as accessible as possible. If you have any questions about accessibility that are not answered here, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Is NUA wheelchair accessible?

All the main spaces are wheelchair accessible and it is possible for wheelchair users to have parking close to the main tent entrance.

There are some permanent toilet and shower blocks on site which are fully accessible.

Is there SEN provision at NUA?

We do not currently offer a specific SEN programme at NUA but there is an SEN tent. This space is parent/carer led and will be available throughout the weekend.

Will there be any sign interpreters at NUA?

We hope that our main adult sessions will have BSL interpreters.
